The Shift Movie
By Wayne Dyer
Wayne Dyer explores the journey we embark on when we long to find the purpose that is our unique contribution to the world. The powerful shift from the ego constructs we are taught early in life by parents and society—which promote an emphasis on achievement and accumulation—are shown in contrast to a life of meaning, focused on serving and giving back. What I particularly enjoy about the film is that it encourages us to examine our own lives and how we make choices. Do we make active choices or passive ones? The film teaches us the difference between lives that have been created from the out-side in – lives of chasing status, money, approval and admiration and those created from the inside-out – deeply meaningful lives beyond the disease to please and based on what matters the most to the people living them.
